Camino de Santiago

The Camino de Santiago (The Way of Saint James) is a pilgrimage route that has existed as a Christian pilgrimage for well over 1,000 years.  There are many different routes now to choose from with the most popular route being The French Way.

The Camino de Santiago French Way is a 500 mile long distance thru hike starting in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port on the French border and goes westward across Spain.  The official finish is at a cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.  An epic hiking journey that  challenged us physically and mentally and gave us time away from our day to day lives.

The route has gained in popularity since the release of the movie The Way in 2010 starring Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez.  For anyone that has a curiosity about the Camino, I highly recommend this movie!
